What a day we had on our wedding day.
The kids were so excited about it and I wanted so much to make sure that they felt apart of it. I know they were excited and they love Brandt, but I also know that there were many changes that were going to be taking place for them. Well, the day came and it was wonderful!! But, you have to have a good story on your wedding day so here is ours:
Before Brandt & I walked out of the temple I ended up hearing a loud scream. I thought it can't be my kid, .... Oh No, it is my kid! A temple worker went to check what the problem was and sure enough Peyton had gotten hurt. He was running away from my "Papa" and ran right into a marble column hitting the side of his head really hard. My mom and her sister took care of the situation. Brand & I made our grand entrance out of the temple. I then checked and "Oh My!", did Peyton have a goose egg on the side of his head!! He also started to look pale and was claiming to not feel good, not even wanting candy. This was the time to take all the pictures and Peyton did not look so good. I started to contemplate on what to do- do we take him to the ER? That is when my brother-in-law suggested a priesthood blessing and went and got oil. Here we were at the temple and I couldn't believe I didn't think of that. My brother-in-law came back and Brandt and Matt gave Peyton a blessing. Right there in the back of the temple the whole group became silent and Brandt gave his first fathers blessing. Peyton calmed down and even looked better afterwards. He told me after the blessing was over the love that he felt- from Brandt and from his Father in Heaven. He said he felt God's presence. We explained that what he was feeling was Heavenly Fathers Love through the Holy Spirit. It was a special experience for Peyton- one I think he will always remember. One that I treasure.
I knew without a doubt Brandt was the one for me to marry. It is amazing to see the kind of Dad he became instantly. His love, his example, and his testimony in the gospel helps strengthen our family.
The kids adjustment to having a step dad has been amazing and pretty seamless. We feel so blessed by the tender mercies of the Lord.
This day and each day we treasure because we get to be together!
